The issue over speaking in tongues and the refusal of some to seek it is because it is a powerful weapon in spiritual ware. So Satan is active in fighting it.
Tongues is rather new to me and mostly difficult for the average person to understand. What I believe is that God gives gifts to those who ask for it and then hopefully the relationship with God grows as they continue to use it. Satan does not want us to seek God.
I think it points to Satan being an influence in many lives wthout us being aweare oof ot.
